The Bus Station Gallery - Oxfordshire Operators

The Bus Station

A page of photographs of local Oxfordshire buses past and not so past. I've cheated a little bit and included a couple of operators from across the borders, but which are or have been regulars in the county. Since I grew up in North Berkshire before the boundary changes made Abingdon part of Oxfordshire, I think that's entirely fair! Click the images for larger versions.

It was parked in Wantage, alongside a Reliance/Roe which began service with Halifax but was still in West Yorkshire PTE colours. By the time of this photograph the company was operating as Abingdon and Wantage Coaches.
Known in the 1960 and 1970s for its fleet of Park Royal-bodied AEC Regent V staff buses, AERE Harwell modernised with Bristol VRTs, Leyland Olympians and Leyland National 2s. JTF971W is passing through Abingdon. click for a larger version
